With this album, they took a large leap in dealing with an outside producer but it has completely paid off. from their top singles “black sun” and “little wanderer” (my favorite on the entire album), kintsugi will be revisited by myself many times. the more times i listen, the better it gets. Her latest album, kintsugi, is the most effectively she’s intertwined her disparate influences, resulting in something that’s absolutely bursting at the seams with joyous, reckless abandon and spiralling noise. it’s pop, it’s rock, it’s sweet, it’s prickly. Hot off the press, her new full length kintsugi has its own calling card. the album opens as though sleepwalking out of a distant dream, picking up whatever expectations you’d have for a j pop firebrand seven albums into her career and scattering them like a frozen pattern of stars over the stillest of night skies.
