Just A Mom Huffpost Life A real, working mother tells her story of how she came to be proud to be "just a mom". this story is heart warming, and sure to speak to any mother's soul. Am i 'just' a mom? i don't mean to brag, but i do so many things. things that are relevant. and important. and valuable. and invisible. I'm just a mom who continually questions herself every single day, second guessing every decision and rethinking every move she's made. i'm just a mom who is no stranger to hard work, pure exhaustion, and reoccurring disappointments despite her best efforts. At first, when my mother said, “you’re going to get through this,” i thought she was just talking about my challenges raising a troubled teen. after she died, i realized she also meant i was going to get through losing a mother and all the other struggles that come with being human.

I bet you're just a mom too. maybe a working mom. or perhaps a stay at home mom. but your story reads like a beautiful novel filled with highs, lows and the everyday life moments. and it's your story that teaches your children, it guides them and helps them grow. I believe that for some women, the need to be more than just a mom is necessary to be the best mom they can be. and as a mother of sons, i want my boys to learn that it’s hard to be a good mom if i don’t also feel like a strong woman, too. I am trying to be ok, for now, with just being a mom. unbeknownst to anyone, i am actually trying to be a better mom. i am wondering if that make me less of a person. i sometimes think it does. i am thinking of writing about that. As a huffington post backstage blogger, after 3 years of writing online i finally had an article i wrote go viral. sharing some lessons that i learned.
