Presented by canadian geographic and one earth living, with support from scotiabank and the north family foundation. join canada's biggest sustainable living challenge for households and classrooms, with a chance to win up to $10,000 for taking action.

Net Zero Challenge Designed to encompass a collection of tools for engagement, assessment, pledges and even offsets, the initial focus is the live net zero challenge in which canadian households apply to compete in a series of challenges to shrink their carbon footprint for the opportunity to win a $50,000 grand prize. Five families. one goal: lower emissions. we challenged five families from across canada to dramatically reduce their carbon emissions, and discover how we can all learn how to live net zero. By engaging households and classrooms in high impact challenges, live net zero aims to foster awareness, collaboration, and real world action, helping communities recognize their collective role in building a sustainable future and inspiring lasting change. The net zero challenge helps businesses create and implement ambitious and credible plans to reach net zero emissions by 2050. more and more companies are cutting their emissions. About the live net zero challenge:the live net zero challenge (2025) (the “challenge”) is a skills based competition, run in both official languages, to increase awareness of and to educate canadians about how to live more sustainably and reduce their household greenhouse gas emissions. The challenge brought forward stories from heritage homes and mini homes, northern cycling families and urban newcomers, semi rural retrofits, and households with new thrift shop traditions. In its second year, live net zero has attracted families from across the country who will compete for a cash prize of $50,000 based on their ability to reduce their carbon emissions, by making improvements in energy efficiency in their homes, their commutes, their travel and their consumption of food and consumer goods.
