The agreement will be in place for up to sixteen years, renewable in increments of five years. this agreement provides a framework for the parties to cooperate to better understand the ecosystems in and adjacent to the central arctic ocean. Arctic and non arctic states, as well as regional and international organizations, have developed policies and research strategies that define their approach to the arctic. these documents outline national priorities, guide scientific investment, and emphasize international collaboration.
