We will continue to work with indigenous partners, who bring enormous knowledge of systems and species to the table, as well as conservation partners and governments to make a healthier world happen. To achieve positive conservation outcomes, it is necessary to build relationships and partnerships among governments, indigenous peoples, and civil organizations with the goal of addressing biodiversity loss and climate change in ways that are equitable, respectful, and socially just. A new fellowship program is underway to give indigenous women across canada the opportunity to lead conservation efforts and capitalize on their longstanding role in land and water stewardship.
