Iacuc Gcu Research The mission of the gcu institutional animal care and use committee (iacuc) is to ensure the ethical and humane treatment of animals used in research and teaching. This article, aimed primarily for researchers but also iacuc administrators, provides an overview of the iacuc protocol review and approval process, the criteria that the iacuc uses for evaluations, and the type of information that should be included in the various sections of the protocol form.

The primary purpose of this chapter is to address how best to foster collaborative roles and responsibilities for members of the iacuc, with particular emphasis on the iacuc chair, iacuc administrator, and attending veterinarian (av). An iacuc at an institution can contribute to the management of conflicts of interest, compliance with federal standards, promotion of good research practices, and facilitate training, in addition to its role in ensuring excellent animal welfare.
