Human Values Map The colourful values map was designed by the common cause foundation, but draws (with permission) on the original research of professor shalom schwartz, a social psychologist and cross cultural researcher who developed what’s known as the theory of basic human values. Everything in our world of values starts with the values map. it’s a table including all the elements of finding the way forward in discovering values, gaining insight into one’s values and preparing for a life time of application.

This exercise was created by mitra, drawing on the work of social scientist shalom schwartz (the ‘forefather’ of basic human values), the research of the common cause foundation and te ao māori. The internal map of human value can have significant implications for mental health, relationships, and overall well being. individuals with a negative self worth may struggle with low self esteem, depression, and anxiety, while those who devalue others may struggle with empathy and forming meaningful connections.
