Whether in the realm of politics or religion, words have become weapons more often than bridges to understanding and cooperation. but we are a people who over the centuries have been formed by the word of god in both the old and new testament.
Homilies Building On The Word But jesus straight away suggests building our house upon the rock”. there are two classes of christians in the history of the church: the first, of whom to beware, are the “ christians of words”, that is, those who limit themselves to repeating: 'lord, lord, lord'. We want to take you on a spiritual journey and hopefully by the end of the year you will be able to look back and say look what the lord has done . we are spirit beings that have a body. aim at heaven and you get heaven and you get earth thrown in. aim at earth and you get neither. Jesus calls us not just to cry out “lord, lord,” but to do what he commands, to build our life on his word. if we do so, we will be like a wise man who built himself on rock, something sturdy that would withstand storms and floods. A very important new stage in their spiritual vision and being formed and changed by the word of god was when jesus called twelve of his disciples to become apostles.
