Home Noaa Ocean Acidification Program From improved ocean acidification forecasts to new insights into how marine life and people respond to our changing ocean, noaa’s ocean acidification program highlights advances in fiscal year 2025 (fy25) online. We provide access to ocean acidification data for researchers, policy makers, and anyone interested in learning more about our changing ocean. oap, in coordination with the iwg oa, commits to providing easily accessible data relating to ocean and coastal acidification.

Home Noaa Ocean Acidification Program Noaa's ocean acidification program serves to build relationships between scientists, resource managers, policy makers, and the public in order to research and monitor the effects of changing ocean chemistry on economically and ecologically important ecosystems such as fisheries and coral reefs. Noaa's ocean acidification program seeks to better prepare society to respond to changing ocean conditions and resources by expanding understanding of ocean acidification, through interdisciplinary partnerships, nationally and internationally. The noaa ocean acidification program focuses on monitoring the changes in the ocean chemistry, researching potential effects on organisms and ecosystems, and understanding the socio economic impacts of those changes. The noaa ocean acidification program (oap) on behalf of the national oceanographic partnership program (nopp) hosted a meeting for the principal investigators (pis) of projects funded through a fy23 marine carbon dioxide removal (mcdr) multi agency funding opportunity.

The interagency working group on ocean acidification (iwgoa) coordinates research and activities on ocean and coastal acidification. Noaa’s ocean acidification program (oap) and sea grant began a partnership in 2016 to prioritize and invest in regional ocean and coastal acidification research to help coastal communities better adapt to ocean change. The noaa ocean acidification program coordinates research, monitoring, and activities to understand where and how fast the ocean’s chemistry is changing, the impacts these changes have on marine life, people, and economies. New research revealing the local scale vulnerability to ocean acidification in hawai’i. by bringing together ocean modeling socioeconomic data, scientists identify areas of resilience and where adaptation strategies and capacity building may be most impactful.
