Help Needed With Kde Plasma Boot Issue Black Screen Blinking Cursor Hi, i’m facing an issue with booting into kde plasma on arch linux. when i boot the system, it takes me to a black screen with a blinking cursor. the mouse can move, but i can’t interact with anything, and the keyboard …. For what happened leading up to this issue, i will explain. for a while i've had issues with plasma wayland. nothing major just if my system ever goes to sleep or screen blanks it just breaks. i commonly go into terminal and stop it and start it via kstart.
Plasma Starts With Black Screen Help Kde Discuss After replacing sddm with the new plasma login manager on manjaro stable, i’m experiencing a black screen with only a cursor on boot. after rebooting several times from a tty, the login manager eventually displays correctly, and i can log into either a wayland or x11 session. Yesterday ever since doing my regular yay (which included updates for the kernel and nvidia driver) and rebooting, i’ve gotten a black screen with a moving cursor after logging in (sddm) and getting pass the kde splash screen. using both xorg and wayland session brings the same results. If i do nothing during boot, i keep having an infinite blinking cursor in the upper left corner. esc does seem to do anything, i don´t see any messages and the cursor is visible. I'm still analyzing your strace log and so far, i do not see any fatal event happening when you have a black screen. then reboot and re test with sddm plasma. please upload xorg.log for fixing issues if this config has errors. from a cursory examination of the logvfiles, x is failing to start because it can't find the screen.

I was on matrix posting about it when it dropped me to a black screen with a cursor in the top left. i don’t have everything on the kitchen pc, so i can’t get to matrix. i had no problem getting to a tty. i hollered for help in the matrix room to see if someone could jump here and help. Just recently i've tried to update my sddm themes using arch linux tweak tool, and apparently it broke my sddm. now when ever i try to boot, i get stuck at a black screen with only a blinking text cursor. the only way to get into my system at the moment is starting hyprland with a separate tty.
