Facial Action Coding System Facs This is a proof of concept intended to showcase the applicability of using available ai tools for design of humanoid robots, and the advantages and limitations of using such tools during development. Developed to provide an objective, muscle based encoding of facial expressions, facs systematically maps facial appearance changes to a set of discrete "action units" (aus), each corresponding to the contraction of underlying facial muscles or muscle groups. Track facial expressions with any software and visualize that data on any avatar in real time, powered by the facs representation. no more need to modify your avatar to support your tracking software. We systematically review all components of such systems: pre processing, feature extraction and machine coding of facial actions. in addition, the existing facs coded facial expression databases are summarised.
