It was founded in 1846 when a group of congregationalists from new england established iowa college. grinnell college is situated 1,000 feet east of gates residence hall. Younker and norris halls are on opposite sides of north campus, but both had a fairly familial vibe. gates, rawson, and dibble tended to house a lot of jocks, but they’re really comfortable even if you’re not an athlete.
