Hgdeck Hackaday Io First i thought of submitting my old hgterm project (raspbery pi based mini laptop for field use, hyperglitch articles hgterm) but then i decided to make something a bit more fun. this one is less of a practical field use and more of a fun cyberpunk ish prop. Hgdeck Hackaday Io Device is based on the raspberry pi zero w soc. it contains one main 3.5" spi tft screen and additional 1" oled screen. additionally, it has bt keyboard, pi camera and mlx90640 thermal camera. the casing is 3d printed on prusa mini. The screens are 13.3" 2560x1440 the system is a udoo bolt (ryzen 1605b, 8gb ram, 256gb nvme ssd) and the power supply is a usb c pd enabled power bank (20v@3a out wtih 26ah capacity). the system can be charged over usb c pd as well while running. Well, first it runs the microphone waveform on oled display, then it starts two terminals, one with dashboard and another empty one and then it starts the controller.py script which takes care of everything else. This is a cyberdeck i built around a pi 4 with parts i had lying around plus the pinephone keyboard (after destroying its charging ic yay!).

Hackaday.io is the single largest online repository of open hardware projects. have an idea for a new art project, hardware hack or startup? find related projects and build on the shoulders of giants. start with nothing more than an idea. document your progress as you move forward. After some thinking about what would be fun to build (and also giving myself a limit that it can only contain stuff that i already have and shouldn't take longer than a few days to build) i decided on a convertible form factor but with an automatic open close mechanism. to initiate mode change i also decided to go with voice commands. My immediate use case for the deck was to replace a ps4 as my tv's media source but it ended up completely replacing my desktop pc. while it's something of a "luxury build" it's also my daily driver. the udoo bolt v8 is a great board that handles all but the most intense rendering tasks.
