Frank Movie Review The Heart Of Artness Flickfilosopher Though your audience isn’t always going to take from your art what you intend, either… look. you’re just gonna have to go with this. and you should. frank is a weird little wonder. Pleasantly strange, slightly moving and slightly funny indie film with good performers, but not too much i'd say that stood out to me as amazing, with exception of the final act of the flick,. Frank revolves around an avant garde musician names frank, who is never seen without an oversized paper mache mask on. the trailer promised quirky indie escapism, possibly some decent music, and some references to sxsw – ahhh, there is such beauty in under promising and over delivering. When jon suggests that frank's suffering has led to his creativity and brilliance, his parents retort that frank has always been musically talented, and that if anything, his mental illness has held him back. The tone of the film is disconcerting. you expect monkees style whimsy but frank is as dark and brooding in its storytelling as its band leader (michael fassbender) is in his behaviour.
