None of them are drawn as it's my first spring. i'm ecstatic that they've made it, in no small part to listening to advice on here, really feel for the likes of do224 who hasn't had a good winter. Looks like they built that pretty comb around the queen cage in the missing empty frame space? that’s pretty neat. i like to mold those excess combs into shapes like trees and put them on my desk at work (am beekeeper, work for beekeeping company). The temperature was 65 degrees with little wind and hazy sunshine, in other words, perfect for a spring inspection. the colony is from a swarm caught late last spring that made 30 pounds of surplus and had plenty left for winter. The bees have been active from my two hives during much lower temperatures, snow apart, lately. do you think i could, or should, do the first proper inspection of the year now, or is it still too soon? if it's too soon, could you please explain why? are there specific signs i should be looking for, before i open the hive fully? many thanks.
