I have a lot of seat time in these car at scca autocrosses, and i won't own one or drive on on the street, even with all my skill and experience. to attempt to drive one when you have not yet learned the most basic car control or how to navigate traffic safely, and this is going to end badly. After joining the sub a year ago and saving up money i finally got my first car!. My first car got destroyed because of a tractor on a rural road, it was my dream car at the time, and because i was on a learners licence i couldn’t claim anything, even though it wasn’t my fault.

The second hand market for cars from the eighties or nineties is pretty scarce here in italy. but even if i managed to get a nice from that era, the buying cost would be the smallest issue: maintenance (including petrol price), insurance, emission regulations and car tax would suck me dry. Along with cheaper tires and fuel it will all add up to the cost of that car in a year of driving. look long term toys are fun for now but reliability and getting some savings at this point in your life is very important. I don't think a "sporty" car for the first one is the best idea, especially when you live in a country where conditions might be tricky all the year. you're an inexperienced driver and it's better to start with something what doesn't encourage you to hit the pedal to the metal all the time. I finally bought my dream jdm car! i've always wanted a s2000 ever since seeing in fast & furious. it was one of the cars i could never afford in my teenage years.
