In hundreds of towns across mexico, during the community's most important celebration, some inhabitants cover their faces with fantastic masks, take on the identity of legendary characters or. Drawing from mexico’s rich cultural tradition and connection to the natural world, photographer alejandro cabezut features the work of local folkloric artisans alongside up cycled denim fashion in this special series. “la otra cara de mexico” (the other face of mexico) is more than a collection of masks on walls. this is a carefully curated museum, organized by categories, with detailed explanations that tell the story behind the types of masks and how they are used.
