This workshop came at a pivotal moment as lao pdr prepares to conclude its national strategic plan for eye health 2021 2025, marked by achievements and lessons learned, and now looks ahead to its next leap toward universal eye health coverage.

In february 2025, stakeholders from across the eye health sector in laos were convened in vientiane for a two day event titled the laos eye care system situation analysis and systems leadership workshop. The workshop began with an update and review of the progress of the national strategic plan for eye health 2021 2025. we reviewed what was achieved so far, reflecting on laos’ accomplishments, working together with iapb members, despite encountering various challenges. The workshop provided a valuable opportunity to assess the current state of eye care in laos and explore evidence based planning to strengthen eye health systems.
