Treating Your Epilepsy Exploring Epilepsy By examining the lives and works of celebrated artists such as vincent van gogh and contemporary painters, particularly those possibly affected by epilepsy, a narrative transcends clinical. In this paper, we review the relationship between art and epilepsy and present two contemporary paintings that convey current western perceptions. this article is part of a special issue entitled “epilepsy, art, and creativity”.

Here we describe some artists who were thought to have had epilepsy, and the way in which their seizures influenced their art. it appears that for some, they have succeeded despite, rather than because of, their epilepsy and that rather than be inspired by their symptoms they were ashamed of them.
