Experimental Drawing Processes
Experimental Drawing Processes For me, this year is going to be all about 'process' and this blog post explores 10 experimental drawing processes. what do i mean by that?. The exercises will help students to loosen up in their approach to drawing, be less precious about neatness and detail and explore lines and mark making as well as the possibilities of drawing materials.
10 Experimental Drawing Processes The Arty Teacher So what is experimental drawing? experimental drawing, as opposed to traditional drawing, can be defined as the study of purely making marks on a surface. it is both a sensory and physical activity, which has recently been widened to include artwork created in various media. Experimental drawing is a powerful way to push the boundaries of creativity and challenge traditional art forms. by exploring unconventional materials, innovative drawing methods, and analyzing successful case studies, artists can discover new ways to express themselves and create unique artworks. Below are four different resources with a variety of drawing experiments that you can try with your students. they can be done as short individual lessons or warm up activities, or can be taken through from 1 4 as a full lesson. Experimental drawing often involves manipulating traditional materials in unexpected ways, such as using erasure as a drawing technique, or incorporating elements of time, movement, and performance into the drawing process.

In this exercise you will learn how experimental drawing can be used for developing new ideas for jewellery designs. the techniques that will be covered today are continuous line drawing and wirework. In addition to studying the relationship of medium to mood while working with a variety of conventional media, you experiment with unconventional media—such as natural pigments, textural elements and found materials—to stretch your drawing technique in new directions. The ‘experimental drawing’ course is designed to introduce the experience of creatively exploring experimental materials, processes, methods and ideas in contemporary drawing practice. We often think about drawing skills as being accurate representations of an observed subject, but experimental drawing offers lots of opportunity to explore mark making in it’s broadest sense.
