Note that all of these designs are absolutely top tier for me (except for maybe dmc but i’ll get to that in a bit) and this is just my opinion as i do love the drip that dante has.

From the very first game, devil may cry laid a great foundation, but it truly got into its stride with dmc3. a prequel in terms of story, it's an evolution in every other regard.

Here is my personal ranking of all his designs from worst to best. of course just my opinion. Although it’s the “least like dante”, dmc2 is genuinely the most badass looking outfit i’ve ever seen. it’s minimal while still being extra and all of the promo art and renders of this dante looks so cool. Not that there’s anything wrong with casual dante, but this is the most put together look he has and i really enjoy that. dmc1 excels in atmosphere relative to the rest of the series, and this is a good example. It's such a tossup between 3 and 5 for me. 3 feels like the most iconic and recognizable dante, like if i saw a character dressed like that in another game or a tv show i'd immediately recognize it as dante.
