Newsletter Encaseproject Encase Co2transport Co2injection Co2 Encase is a project aimed at advancing carbon capture and storage (ccs) research and technology in europe to address the eu’s ambitious goals of reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Contest organized by leap, politecnico di milano and clust er greentech, with the support of open university and with the patronage of comune di piacenza and piacenza technopole. This research project is a first of its kind and holds significant importance in achieving net zero and reaching sustainability targets, as accurate measurement of transported and stored co 2 is essential for the deployment of ccus. “encase carries out research and develop infrastructures and services in the ccus value chain, with special contribution to a safer, more cost effective, and environmentally friendly co₂ transport and well injection”.

The eu funded encase project will increase ccs efficiency by setting up and improving seven research infrastructures (ris) using state of the art equipment that will study and improve ccs technology. During the project, efforts will be made to increase the competitiveness of these european ris through collaboration with ccs infrastructure operators, service companies, academia and smes. the research infrastructure will also be available to industry for prototyping new equipment and technologies. Based on new experimental data provided by the project, polimi will develop models related to thermophysical properties of co2 mixtures, such as phase equilibria, density, specific heats, viscosity, etc. The encase project brings together research institutions, industry partners and technology developers from across europe. the goal is to strengthen research infrastructure and accelerate the development of technologies needed for co₂ transport and injection.
