Creed Ii Razorfine Review
Creed Ii Is Another Triumphant Legacy Focused Title Bout With Tons Of With far more personal motives, creed ii lacks the patriotism that rock iv was completely wrapped up in. that said, it works quite well as a sequel to both rocky iii and rocky iv exploring adonis creed’s struggles against an ominous new adversary and impossible odds. Creed ii falls victim to the sins of sequelitis—it’s bigger, louder and more grandiose than its predecessor—yet manages to right itself by not losing focus on the humanity of its central characters.
Creed Ii Review Movies With Mark In 1985, russian boxer ivan drago killed former u.s. champion apollo creed in a tragic match that stunned the world. against the wishes of trainer rocky balboa, apollo's son adonis johnson. Rocky has always lived and died on its direct, unsubtle sincerity. it’s in these heartfelt moments where creed ii flies, underpinning its thoughtful climax and one of the series’ most surprisingly moving endings. Just as creed (2015) borrowed its template from the original rocky (1976), creed ii draws not from rocky’s first or even second sequel but rocky iv (1985). this 2018 follow up to director ryan coogler’s much lauded “requel” continues to rethink the successful boxing franchise for today’s audiences. Creed ii delivers the punch but doesn't quite land the knockout. while the familiar formula still works as inspiring as ever, it is mainly good ol' rock that steals the protagonist's spotlight. without sly's solid rock performance this movie would have been just another fight movie.

So, is creed ii just a retread of familiar spaces, and, if so, is that even a problem? perhaps los angeles times critic justin chang has it right. We did not know what to expect from “creed ii” but the release of trailers did subsidize the negative air around it. fortunately, “creed ii” is a fun, feel good movie that is worth the two hour runtime, but is not a knockout, like its predecessor. Luckily, it’s not only a great follow up to both creed and rocky iv, but it’s just a great movie in general, continuing the characters’ journeys with grace and emotion while never sacrificing what made them appealing to begin with. Despite feeling more predictable and slightly more gimmicky than the first, creed ii still finds enough in the margins to warrant its own existence and the continuation of this franchise into new realms.
