Conversation With Ruben Ochoa Syzygy In being a professor right now, part of my role at the school of art is to push to impact culture and social injustices. now i see students, graduates and emerging artists tackling all the issues. we’re having dialogues. witnessing what they are making is amazing. as a kid i would draw. Ro: i see drawing, painting, and sculpture in conversation. i start with a drawing, practical interdisciplinary work, and it becomes sculptural. i don’t have a specific ellsworth moment, but he definitely was an influence in my schooling in the ’90s, along with earthworks, modernism, and minimalism. at that time, i wanted to be the next.
