Safe Visitation Program Help Families Heal Thrive The university based child and family policy consortium, in collaboration with the society for research in child development, hosted a webinar on june 10, 2019 on developing, implementing, and evaluating strive, an evidence informed supervised visitation program for child welfare involved parents. Our family time visitation training equips both child welfare providers and parents with the tools, support, and confidence to make parent child visits truly special. This collaboration led to the development of the strive supervised family time programtm to increase the quality of visits between parents and their children, reduce trauma, and increase the likelihood of successful reunification. Svn is the only international network dedicated to supporting professionals in the field of supervised visitation. we provide training, set best practice standards, and connect providers to a strong, supportive community.

The primary goals of this randomized, controlled study were to assess the effects of the strive supervised family time program on parental engagement, attendance, parenting skills in visits and the quality of the visits among parents involved with the child welfare system. The program is designed to be delivered by lay visit supervisors who have been trained as strive visit navigators (vn) to use the strengths based, relationship focused, trauma informed and developmentally tailored features of the curriculum. Our supervised visitation program is designed to facilitate safe and supportive interactions between children and the non custodial parent (s). this program provides a structured environment where visits can take place under the supervision of trained professionals. Supporting parent–child family time visits is of critical importance for families involved with the child welfare system. the strive supervised family time program shows promise in improving key parenting skills needed by some child welfare involved parents.
