Conic Sections Project Desmos

Conic Sections Project Desmos Graph functions, plot points, visualize algebraic equations, add sliders, animate graphs, and more. In this activity, students explore the connections between algebraic and graphical representations of various conic sections as they work through a series of graphing challenges.

Conic Sections Project Desmos This is only the second year that i have done conics projects on desmos. (click here for previous conics desmos project post). this year, i taught conic sections in the first semester, and so i assigned this before thanksgiving break in case students wanted to work on it. they did a fantastic job!. This document provides instructions for a conic sections project assignment. students are asked to create a picture using desmos to graph equations of conic sections. In this performance task, the students were instructed to work in pairs and create their own artworks on desmos using the four conic sections discussed in pre calculus, namely: circle, parabola, ellipse, and hyperbola. To show the calculator’s graphing capabilities, you will create a graph online using desmos (not student.desmos, just regular desmos ). on this website, each group member will create their own drawing that uses at least one of each conic section (parabola, circle, ellipse and hyperbola).

Transform your conic sections unit into a creative and rigorous exploration with this conic sections desmos art project! students will graph parabolas, circles, ellipses, and hyperbolas to design original digital art using the desmos graphing calculator. Print your project from desmos . highlight the 6 required equations. display your project (picture and all equations) in a creative fashion on a 14’’ by 22’’ poster board (half a typical poster board). make sure to put your name on the front of your project. A project for students who've learned or about to learn conic sections. they may recreate a master work, create something new, or choose what they consider to be "art" as a foundation for their project. This lesson on graphing conic sections rocked on multiple levels. for the students, it involved concrete mastery of standards, conceptual understanding of several topics, higher order thinking skills, student autonomy and intellectual need.
