Dynon Compass Module Jared And Tabitha S Bearhawk Construction Log If you're getting that message even after doing the ground calibration, the system is determining that the quality of the cal isn't high enough. although, it sounds like you're not even able to get through the calibration, so that may be a different issue. I did not have a compass rose available for calibrating, so i drew a fore aft line right in front of the vertical stabilizer and aligned an accurate hiking compass with that line.

Can anyone point me to a concise procedure? i have done an ahrs orientation setting followed by accel calibration and have tried mounting the 3 axis gy 273 compass every which way thereafter and calibrating that too, only to have the thing (matek h743 wing r3) seem to reinterpret the compass data subsequent to that. This procedure involves performing maneuvers both on the ground and in the air with the efis d10 connected to a laptop pc running the efis d10 magnetic calibration program.

With the engine running, i slowly moved & turned my plane until the dynon efis heading indicated 360°, then stopped and pressed the button to calibrate. i did this for all 4 headings. i spoke to dynon tech support (jeff?) and he approved using this method. After firmware upgrade to 3.0 compass was completely wrong (by almost 180 degrees). we did somehow managed calibration in flight, with very steep turns. after that it was 10 20 degrees off, but generally working. i did try now to calibrate it on the ground. I tried to do my compass calibration today but found out that i can only go in two directions. north seems to work, but all the other directions point west on the calibration screen. We did fix some compass related issues in that release. if that doesn't fix it, and you're sure there's no power ferrous metal around the magnetometr, give tech suppport a call or email.
