Keck Community W M Keck Observatory Thank you for your generous support of w. m. keck observatory and for becoming a valued champion of our mission to advance the frontiers of astronomy and share our discoveries to inspire the imagination of all. Among the ways to do so is by providing our observing community the opportunity to learn values unique to hawaiʻi, get to know the history of this storied place, immerse in meaningful acts of service, and contribute to the well being of the local community.
Community W M Keck Observatory The w. m. keck observatory is an astronomical observatory with two telescopes at an elevation of 4,145 meters (13,600 ft) near the summit of mauna kea in the u.s. state of hawaii. The w.m. keck observatory is located at the summit of maunakea on hawai’i. maunakea is a place of immense reverance and cultural importance within the indigenous hawaiian community. Community is a microcosm of that infinite and intricate connectivity, and it is through this lens that we feel a strong sense of responsibility to do our part in helping hawai’i island thrive. Community keck observatory hosts and participates in a variety of public events, such as science nights at the libraries, solar system walks in waimea, the merrie monarch parade, and the waimea christmas parade.
