The cohan collective is an open residency program for the creation of new choreography and music composition. we are a community that gives time, space and support to develop and inspire artists working in dance and music through investigating the art of collaboration.

With the aim of enabling cohan and alberga’s legacy to trickle through to the next generation of artists, eight mid career choreographers and composers have had the experience of collaborating intensively for two weeks from 1 13 august. Cohan Collective With the aim of enabling cohan and alberga’s legacy to trickle through to the next generation of artists, eight mid career choreographers and composers have had the experience of collaborating intensively for two weeks from 1 13 august. After working as project manager on the 2018 and 2019 residencies, hosted at pavilion dance south west, i was then appointed to support the development of cohan collective to split off from yorke dance project as a community interest company in its own right. The creation of a new piece of work, with an original score by jose guillermo puello, supported by yorke dance project and the cohan collective. Artists who have participated in phase 1 and phase 2 are invited to return to the cohan collective to create a new work over a three week period. this will culminate in a performance which will include lighting and costume design and will be performed at the end of the three weeks. I was very fortunate enough to be invited to observe the cohan collective in action during its open day on 1st august. this open day is a new addition to the residency this year, providing local dancers, choreographers, musicians and teachers the chance to witness all of the artists at work.
