Co Ops 3 Young Agrarians The national farmers union in the us has put together a great webinar series that explores how the co operative model can help address common challenges faced by small and medium scaled farming enterprises, along with other co op fundamentals. This program has been designed for people who want to explore what it means to co create a farming or farm ally co operative.
Co Operatives Young Agrarians There was a moment at a young agrarians farm potluck many moons ago, where i felt in my gut, “i think these are my people.” maybe it was the unabashed way folks were chowing down on food, or the laugh lines etched into tired suntanned faces. How to start a co op is a 9 week course for farmers and farm allies who are interested in learning about co creating collaborative projects. the course will be a mix of theory, practical tools and resources, and opportunities to practice hands on working through the muddle skills. This online course offers the opportunity to learn about and apply the tools, resources, and skills that you need to prepare for co creating a farming co operative!. This online course offers the opportunity to learn about and apply the tools, resources, and skills that you need to co create a farming (or farm adjacent) co operative!. This program has been designed for people who want to explore what it means to co create a farming or farm ally co operative. you do not need to have prior experience in farming organizations nor be a farmer to participate in this program. A co operative (co op) is a type of business that is member owned, and democratically managed. co ops are established and run by their owner members, operating on the idea that people can work together to meet their shared goals and needs. Turning a farm business into a co operative, especially one that will eventually own the land, can be a way to formalize the community approach to farming and ensure the land will be available for future generations of farmers. Together, we will explore how co operatives can successfully function, and practice applying the tools, resources and knowledge that you can use to co create your own thriving co op.
