By combining novel sources and a wide range of perspectives, the eea’s circularity metrics lab (cml) complements existing initiatives by compiling responsive data on the growth of the circular economy (eea, 2022). The cml is structured around a four part framework. the initial step is to consider the enabling factors that must be in place to facilitate the growth and development of a circular economy. the cml then presents data on how the commercial sector, and households are adopting to circular practices. The circularity metrics lab (cml) complements these initiatives by providing additional information on the growth of the circular economy from novel sources and across a wide range of perspectives. However, their value chain is currently unsustainable, contributing to the generation of climate changing emissions and increasing waste and pollution. reducing such impacts while retaining plastics’ usefulness requires a shift towards a more circular and sustainable plastics system.
