Cilium is an open source, cloud native solution for providing, securing, and observing network connectivity between workloads, fueled by the revolutionary kernel technology ebpf. Cilium is a networking, observability, and security solution with an ebpf based dataplane. it provides a simple flat layer 3 network with the ability to span multiple clusters in either a native routing or overlay mode. This release introduces a more secure encrypted overlay with ipsec, enhanced ipv6 support and further improvements to load balancing, gateway api, and ip address management ; reinforcing cilium’s role as the foundation for modern kubernetes networking.

This release introduces a more secure encrypted overlay with ipsec, enhanced ipv6 support and further improvements to load balancing, gateway api, and ip address management ; reinforcing cilium’s role as the foundation for modern kubernetes networking. Cilium stands as a transformative technology in the kubernetes ecosystem, redefining how network connectivity, security, and observability are managed in cloud native environments. Troubleshooting this document describes how to troubleshoot cilium in different deployment modes. it focuses on a full deployment of cilium within a datacenter or public cloud. if you are just looking for a simple way to experiment, we highly recommend trying out the getting started guide instead. Every pod in a cluster gets its unique cluster wide ip address and can communicate with all other pods on any other node without using nat. pod to pod connectivity and ip address allocation requires a container network interface (cni) plugin to implement this model. Cilium controls are decoupled from traditional network identifiers, such as ip addresses, to avoid having to update networking rules for each node whenever pods are started or stopped.
