Cassiopeia Noirlab A new high definition image from the nasa esa csa james webb space telescope’s nircam (near infrared camera) unveils intricate details of supernova remnant cassiopeia a (cas a), and shows the expanding shell of material slamming into the gas shed by the star before it exploded. Blown by the wind from a star, this tantalizing, head like apparition is cataloged as ngc 7635, but known simply as the bubble nebula. the featured striking view utilizes a long exposure to reveal the intricate details of this cosmic bubble and its environment. Noirlab recognizes and acknowledges the very significant cultural role and reverence that these sites have to the tohono o’odham nation, to the native hawai’ian community, and to the indigenous peoples of chile, respectively. An open star cluster in the constellation cassiopeia, ngc457 is composed of relatively young stars (only about 10 million years old). it is located some 9300 light years from earth and is about 30 light years across.
