Carmelite Symposium In late summer, four of our sisters attended the cina (carmelite institute of north america) symposium in washington d.c., joining other nuns, friars, and secular order members of both branches of the carmelite order. The conference will take place may 5 10, 2025 and is open to all members of the carmelite family as well as anyone interested in knowing more about carmelite liturgy. The carmelite institute of north america symposium was held from july 28 to august 1, 2024, at the catholic university of america in washington, d.c. this year’s theme, “from st. therese to st. titus: lessons for the 21st century,” explored the spiritual teachings and legacies of these saints. The carmelite institute of north america is proud to assume the work of the carmelite forum previously held at st. mary’s college in south bend. we hope you will continue the tradition with us at our new location at st. mary’s of the lake seminary in mundelein, il.

Micheal o’neill, o. carm., prior general of the carmelites of the ancient observance (o.carm.) , gave a virtual presentation on lessons for the 21st century from rome, italy. The institutum carmelitanum is the scientific research and educational arm of the general curia of the carmelite order of the catholic church. it is comprised of members invited because of their scholarly research and publications in carmelite topics. We are happy to announce that the program for the liturgy & prayer congress in 2025 has just been released. this international congress will take place in the carmelite center (istituto madonna del carmine “il carmelo”, sassone) just outside of rome.
