Capitol Modern The no. 1 capitol district building, home to capitol modern, is an architectural gem that dates back to 1872. originally constructed as the hawaiian hotel, it was one of the first luxury hotels in the kingdom of hawaiʻi, hosting distinguished guests from around the world. It was a fabulous display of up and coming hawaiian artists in addition to the contemporary art of homegrown talent on show. i very much enjoyed the sculptures there, esp. the ones outside.
