Canal Quarters Virtual Visits C O Canal Trust C&o canal quarters lockhouse 10 was built in 1830 and is located in montgomery county, maryland. the lockhouse was remodeled by national park service crews in the 20 th century to resemble what it would have looked like in the 1930s. Lockhouse 10 is a great starting point for biking east or west on the chesapeake and ohio canal towpath that starts on the eastern end in old georgetown in downtown washington, dc and extends westward up into the appalachian mountains. Once used as ranger housing for the national park service, lockhouse 10 is now open to the public for overnight stays through the c&o canal trust’s canal quarters program.
