Milton West Virginia Glassblower At Work At The Blenko Glass Company This blog is a ' community effort' people who collect blenko, people who just love blenko and people who want to know a small family owned factory in a small west virginia town will be making hand crafted glass when their grandchildren have children. Blenko glass is made using the same methods and tools that the master craftsmen in europe used hundreds of years ago. all workers at blenko are trained on the job and perpetuate a 1000 year old tradition. the workers in glass factories are divided into groups of six, called "shops". Blenko recruited louis miller and axel muller, master glassworkers who had trained in sweden, to make this glass and train other glassworkers in their skills. and soon after their glass was included in carbones' catalogue, it was being sold in major department stores across the country. All of us at blenko are aware that the glass you order allows our company, our workers and our community to thrive and to continue a centuries old tradition that needs to be preserved.
