I wanted to provide an update on whether my unl ancestral recall was worth grading. in total, it cost ~$300 between psa and shipping fees, and resulted in a psa 8.
Bgs Grading Grade It This is a nice touch by bgs, although it also introduces more room for collectors to debate grade accuracy. many dealers and collectors will have opinions about which grading company is superior and which may be less reliable. in general, i don't discriminate against any of these three companies. Pokémon tcg has always weirded me out because i'd constantly see encased and graded cards from even the newest sets and always wondered what was the point of it. The grades i got, and the grading comparison, was really interesting to me and i thought useful for the group to see. if you can't tell from the image, they are almost uniformly lower, down to each sub grade. here's the breakdown of the comparison (new grade old grade, alphabetic order by card). After personally grading this collection and pulling out the mintiest cards to send into bgs for grading with the absolute best centering, they sent us the final grades. I currently have a grading order pending with bgs which they've held for almost 8 months at this point, and they still can't give me a solid return date. am i better off having them return my order and sending it to psa instead?.
