Bedknobs And Broomsticks 1971 Blu Ray Review

Bedknobs And Broomsticks 1971 Blu Ray Review Robert stevenson’s bedknobs and broomsticks marked quite an advance in quality and entertainment value on the earlier two disney musicals produced in the wake of the fabulous success of mary poppins: the happiest millionaire and the one and only, genuine, original family band. Mary poppins may subjectively offer the more attractive video presentation, but, objectively, bedknobs and broomsticks delivers the same level of faithful restoration and should be praised.

Bedknobs And Broomsticks Blu Ray Special Edition Fans of bedknobs and broomsticks may be disappointed to learn that, although this 1971 family film has finally been upgraded to hd, the extended edition on past dvd releases is nowhere to be found. Bedknobs and broomsticks was a much anticipated film, perhaps with less fervor than poppins, but this was 1971 and much had changed in entertainment and in the world itself. While i have heard about bedknobs and broomsticks, i have never watched the film until reviewing the blu ray this week. the film is similar to mary poppins, which both films blended live action with animation. "bedknobs and broomsticks" doesn't hold up next to my fond, if limited, childhood memories of the film. it is very much a lesser distaff version of " mary poppins " with erratically placed, mostly disposable songs (only "portobello road" is memorable) and a barely there plot lacking in urgency.
