Basic Wildland Firefighting Kishugu Training This course is for people who want to contribute to the suppression of wildfires at a basic level. it equips students to be actively involved in the suppression of wildfires and apply sound fire suppression actions, based on the use of firefighting hand tools. Firefighters are recruited from marginalized communities and are fully trained as firefighters. all firefighters are also trained in fire awareness, fire prevention and fire suppression skills.

Each year, thousands of fire service personnel from volunteer departments, municipalities and industries participate in intensive weeklong training courses that make up the annual spring and summer fire schools. Trained in a rigorous 24 day programme at the kishugu training academy, they were equipped with specialised firefighting skills and a deep understanding of the importance of community engagement and environmental stewardship.
