Baking Normal Map Not Working Anvil Tutorial Blender Stack Exchange I'm following blender guru's anvil tutorial on baking normal maps and its not working. i don't know what really any of the settings mean and there is a weird oval thing on the anvil; i have no idea. Problem baking normal maps in blender. i've been following blender guru's anvil tutorial but can't seem to figure out why my the baked normal map lacks all details and comes out white like this, i've noticed the baking progress tracker get's to 25% or less then instantly skips to the end.

So i am following a tutorial in making an anvil. i baked a normal map, but all a get from it are some ugly black spots, that disappear when i disconnect the normal map node. I can't seem to achieve any kind normal bake that works at all. i've tried following multiple step by step baking guides on as well as the instructions in the blender manual itself. I'm trying to follow andrew price's anvil tutorial but i'm completely stuck at the point where he bakes the normal map from a high poly sculpted mesh to a basic mesh. I'm trying to bake a normal map from my high poly meshes to my low poly meshes, for the past couple of tries i've had the same result that is shown in the picture below. after about an hour of baking the map is empty of detail, there are only empty spots surrounded by blue. I just spent 3 working days baking a single normal map, that always came out transparent or with empty holes (blank spaces). i leart every single mistake one could make, so i decided to write a short tutorial to help any future mes. Here is my solution for blender guru's old anvil tutorial, the way he does normal maps does not work well in the newer versions, which can catch off guard people who are new to.
