Artificial Intelligence In Academic Library A thematic analysis identifies artificial intelligence, machine learning, and chatbots as pivotal areas. the study underscores the interdisciplinary nature of ai research in academic libraries and its growing influence on enhancing library operations, resource discovery, and user experiences. Academic libraries have already begun to act on these struggles by creating ai research spaces, pursuing robotics, examining ethical issues and implicit biases in machine learning, and experimenting with ai applications for image classification, metadata refinement, and enhancing discovery. According to a 2023 report by the international federation of library associations and institutions (ifla), academic libraries in various countries are beginning to utilize ai technology to optimize collection management, personalize services, and support research and learning. Ai has the potential to make library operations more efficient and assist students with writing but can also wreak havoc in the academic library setting, leading to plagiarism and the spread of misinformation.

Artificial Intelligence Potential In Academic Library Setting According to a 2023 report by the international federation of library associations and institutions (ifla), academic libraries in various countries are beginning to utilize ai technology to optimize collection management, personalize services, and support research and learning. Ai has the potential to make library operations more efficient and assist students with writing but can also wreak havoc in the academic library setting, leading to plagiarism and the spread of misinformation. Artificial intelligence (ai) has become a prominent research area in library and information science (lis), raising questions about how it is studied, applied, and conceptualised. this review synthesises ai scholarship in lis between 2001 and 2025, following the joanna briggs institute (jbi) framework and prisma scr standards. from 9249 records retrieved in scopus, 387 publications were. Artificial intelligence (ai) has increasingly influenced various domains, including academic libraries. as libraries strive to enhance their services and streamline operations, ai technologies have emerged as crucial tools in achieving these goals. Despite its promise, the integration of ai within academic libraries faces hurdles such as expertise shortages, infrastructure limitations, financial constraints, and employment concerns . This study aims to critically examine the adoption of agentic artificial intelligence (ai) in academic libraries, focusing on use cases, the skills required, the ethical issues academic libraries should consider and future directions.
