Are Games Better On Mega Drive Or Pc Engine
Pc Engine Mega Drive Cancelled Games Encyclopedia Are games really better on the mega drive… or the pc engine? on paper, this shouldn’t even be a fair fight. the sega mega drive is a true 16 bit powerhouse, while the pc engine is often. The 16 bit era of video game consoles was a golden age for gaming, with fierce competition between the sega genesis (mega drive) and the super nintendo entertainment system (snes). both consoles had their unique strengths and iconic game libraries, making it difficult to declare a definitive "best" console.

I honestly don't agree with the pce being the better console for shooters. it certainly has more shooters, but it also has a lot of shooters that are not necessarily all that good. Pce version has better graphics and sound, but requires additional 3 button pad and lacks 2p co op mode, which is in md version. md version is easier, enemies burn when shot down and sound is better, but small screen, fewer sprites and low color palette. You're voting for which is better for every console variation expansion and game ever released in cd rom format for either the pc engine turbografx or mega drive genesis.

Sound wise the tg 16 is probably the better but i find the gameplay a little faster, balanced, and more exciting at some points on mega drive. honestly though the difference here is so slight that either can be bought without regrets. Compared to long time rival snes, the mega drive had a more "brute force" approach, boasting a more powerful cpu but a simpler video and sound chipset. this can be seen in polygon games like race drivin or steel talons, which run acceptably on the mega drive but far worse on the snes. The pc engine version kinda has a more classic 'arcade like' aesthetic whereas the mega drive version has a more gritty and more detailed appearance. on balance, i marginally prefer the pc engine version's graphics for the softer tones. I have to go with the engine simply for the fact that i come back to it more than the genny and snes. it has so many choice games across the board except for sports, of which the genny really excelled.
