I honestly don't agree with the pce being the better console for shooters. it certainly has more shooters, but it also has a lot of shooters that are not necessarily all that good. Pce version has better graphics and sound, but requires additional 3 button pad and lacks 2p co op mode, which is in md version. md version is easier, enemies burn when shot down and sound is better, but small screen, fewer sprites and low color palette. The pc engine version kinda has a more classic 'arcade like' aesthetic whereas the mega drive version has a more gritty and more detailed appearance. on balance, i marginally prefer the pc engine version's graphics for the softer tones.
