Volunteer Gardener The sculpture trail was established in 1999 at cheekwood estate and gardens through a donation from ann and monroe carrel jr. the trail underwent renovation to upgrade the pathways and add to the plant collection. While it was modeled after english venues for outdoor sculpture, like the forest of dean sculpture trail and the yorkshire sculpture park, this trail exhibit works that respond to cheekwood’s distinctive natural setting.

Comprised of a turtle, frog, two hares, and a hawk, this work was installed on the carell trail specifically with children in mind, but viewers of all ages are invited to join this gathering of animals. The ann & monroe carell jr. family sculpture trail is a wooded landscape with hills. the hickory loop is accessible for wheelchairs and strollers. the cedar loop is mulched and has uneven terrain. please use caution and stay on the designated paths. for emergency assistance, call 615 354 6386.
