Adding 13a Socket To Cooker Circuit Diynot Forums I don't want the aggro of running a spur from a wall socket, which is why i want to run from the cooker circuit. i’ve collated various bits of info on this, and i’m thinking to proceed as per the attached plan. Hi, the current state of play is a standalone combined oven and hob supplied by single cooker circuit with 40a rcbo, 6mm cable, isolated by cooker control switch and the unit is hardwired to cooker connection unit. the plans are to change to built in oven and separate hob.

Adding 13a Socket To Cooker Circuit Page 3 Diynot Forums From my perspective, could we just wire a 13a single plug socket off of the cooker outlet wiring by changing it to a dual 45a outlet and using 2.5mm wiring then the other outlet goes to the hob. or would the 13a plug need to be wired from a regular socket and not the cooker circuit?. Obviously, the easiest thing to do is to put a plug on the oven flex and fit a double socket in place of the single, but if hardwiring is preferable then we're looking at running a 13a socket from the outlet plate. The oven is going into a new base unit and is rated at 2.99kw 13a. it comes with a flex connection that plugs into the rear of the oven, and the other end of the flex has the three exposed cores with no plug. The fitters will merely need to plug the hob into the 13a socket. in the meantime we use the socket for our gas oven ignition. hardwire the oven flex to the cooker outlet plate this will mean that the fitters will just need to snap the dangling plug into the rear of the oven.

How is that achieved in a cooker? that's for the "cooker" manufacturer to say. the op is wiring in two separate appliances, which probably come with two. A lot of ovens are manufactured for the european, rather than british, market, where socket outlets are rated to 16a rather than the 13a we have here. the ovens you're looking at rated to 16a would ideally be fitted to a 16a radial circuit which it sounds like you can't or don't want to do. I am hoping to help my son fit a new oven. it is rated as 13a and may come with flexi cable or none. currently he has an electric oven cabled with 6mm cable. If i have a 20a mcb at the consumer unit can i change my cooker 45a dp isolating switch to a 2 gang 45a dp cooker switch with 13a socket using a single to double backbox converter to save me digging out the wall.
