About Development Dariah Fi For the 2024–2025 funding period, dariah fi is responsible for developing infrastructures in three areas: 1) upgrading tools for processing unstructured text, 2) facilitating research in audio visual culture, and 3) supporting uptake of transformer technology in ssh. This document provides an updated report on the educational resource development in dariah fi for the 2024–2025 funding period.
Dariah Fi Youtube Academy of finland has granted fin clariah and dariah fi infrastructure funding that secures the development of this social science and humanities infrastructure for the next two years. Dariah fi builds and shares tools, datasets, workflows and teaching materials for the needs of social sciences and humanities (ssh) in finland. The aim of this development project is to ensure that a digital transformation happens in an orderly fashion without duplication of efforts or reinventing the wheel. (2) dariah fi connects people not only nationally but also locally. (3) researchers are not going to use our resources just for fun: can this tool dataset workflow help them to improve in their craft?.

In this blog, we bring news about new infrastructure developed in the past two years by the dariah fi network for acquiring and processing large scale, visual and multimodal historical documents. Dariah fi fosters a vision of a national collaborative network of open science hubs that will coordinate efforts towards the openness of research practices, strengthen the open science aspects of existing infrastructures and help to develop and expand open collaboration models. In operation since 2022, dariah fi is funded by the research council of finland and provides digital tools, materials and best practices to the finnish ssh community. the services of the facility are centrally provided through the environment of the csc – it center for science.
