6 Months In R Dreadlocks This guide will show you the four main stages of hair growth for dreadlocks based on the month in which they are started. each stage has its unique look and requires different care techniques. Today makes my six months loc'd — and i love it! and before you click away even though my hair is locked, my experience still applies to your straight, wavy, or curly hair — especially if you've been dying to cut, color, bleach, or shave it all off. New to the loc community and decided to go freeform path to see what my natural pattern looks like. cut off the top in february and did a lil bit of curl sponge action to start off. any advice on keeping the locs i have healthy & intact overnight for a heavy sleeper?. So given your line of dread maintenance, if they start to smell like mold, you gotta cut em off. and those loose hairs won't mesh themselves back in, you gotta do that yourself. Also known as the sprouting stage. the hair gets at this stage 6 12 months after you start your loc journey. your thin tight hair is beginning to swell up. you want to develop a consistent loc routine at this stage. hair has reduced unraveling so you want to shampoo your hair more often. The process of creating locs can take several months to several years depending on various factors, including hair texture and the method used to create or install the locs.
