Beams 3sge Itb Dyno The Best Picture Of Beam Hughes race engineering built 2.0l 13.0:1 jenvey intake flow developed head oversize valves beehive springs titanium retainers custom camshafts hre headers fuel avgas (limited fuel options in nz). This was my 28 with a beams completely stock (bar pod filter) on the dyno 5 years ago. can't wait to see the difference when she goes back on in a month or so with haltech, itb's and possibly extractors.
3sge Beams Dyno Final Harrah Ghetto Garage This of course will need to be done on a dyno and done several times until the desired power band are achieved. the constantly variable nature of vvt i is not applicable to racing application where 90% of the time the motor will be revved high just below the rev limiter. It gets pretty decent fuel economy (i was getting 35mpg cruising at 80 mph with a 3.73 final drive), and easily makes 180hp and 140ftlbs at the wheels. that said, most people who use a beams in an ae86 or other chassis end up wanting more power at some point, myself included. Full access required to print dyno sheet. Not my personal results, but a guy from mr2.org.nz with a standard gen 5 sw20 was getting 171hp at the wheels, with a stock standard engine. one guy from 6gc was getting 197whp, and another guy from there was getting 194 whp. both without opening the engine up, just with bolt on mods, and a fuel computer of sorts, iirc. Let's start a dyno results thread. we've had a good discussion about optimal exhaust sizes, so let's get a collection of data of modifications and power. One of the questions that is frequently asked about the beams 3sge from the toyota altezza is how much horsepower can it make if you add a turbocharger to it. Literally 10 degrees of exhaust cam retardation (is that a word?) and 2mm larger throttles netted over 30whp, or 15% power. the car tuned really well, and what i am most proud of with this car is the tip in and throttle response.
