Monthly Recap February 2024 Indonesia has just concluded 2024 election on february 14th where the country casted votes for the next president and vice president, as well as legislative representatives. Strong economic data and earnings reports were supportive of a risk on month with the s&p 500 breaking the 5000 level for the first time, surging over 5%. even non us markets experienced new market tops with europe’s stoxx 600 hitting a record high and japanese nikkei 225 finally surpassing its peak set over 34 years ago.
Ecash Monthly Recap February 2024 Here’s a recap on what happened in the markets. us equities continued their positive momentum in february, with the s&p 500 finishing the month up 5.3%. strong q4 2023 earnings and robust economic data prompted the market rally. Markets marching higher the dow jones industrial average, the nasdaq, and the s&p 500 all reached record highs in february with the s&p 500 reaching a new milestone, crossing the 5000 level for the first time. joining the move higher, the european stoxx 600 also reached. Regional and sector returns broadened in february, though ‘growth’ stocks continued to lead the market higher. meanwhile, the performance of the ‘magnificent seven’ (m7) appeared fragmented: nvidia’s 60% surge in 2024 contrasts starkly with tesla, down a fifth. While you all have seen the rewards of the markets in your accounts, i’m pleased to say that, not only did we outperform the benchmark in 2023, through the end of february we doubled the benchmark’s return when we look across all client accounts combined.
