2020 Csa Week 18 This is it! the final week of csa for 2020! as usual, it has been an interesting season. not enough rain, too much heat & humidity, the coronavirus all worked together to make it a challenging year for growing & marketing. yet at the same time, these same conditions also helped with our growing…. Csa week 18 2020: larger tomatoes this week, though we’ll need to ripen them on the windowsill. the weather’s turned cooler, so i guess that tomatoes suffer a bit. it has not been a good year for tomatoes around here. we also have a big bunch of chard and lots of green things: arugula, lettuce, parsley, lemon balm. we’ll still be eating.

2020 Csa Week 14 Not only are we continuing to harvest and deliver csa shares, harvest for and attend farmers’ markets, but we’re beginning to do our fall bulk harvesting. this wednesday we’ll all be digging burdock root. They are so cute, y'all. they were a brown egg layer assortment, so i'm unsure of breeds as of right now, but as they start to grow their real feathers i'll have a better idea. i'm pretty certain they are about half rhode island red or new hampshire red. the others i'm not so sure on quite yet. 2020 csa. This week we got more of the greenhouse areas cleaned up and prepared for winter. harvests continued also and we got some fresh greens in along with the other summer crops. This time of year really puts our crop management skills to the test, and we hope to carry our tomatoes, peppers, eggplant and winter squash along for a few more weeks or months.

2020 Csa Week 11 This week we got more of the greenhouse areas cleaned up and prepared for winter. harvests continued also and we got some fresh greens in along with the other summer crops. This time of year really puts our crop management skills to the test, and we hope to carry our tomatoes, peppers, eggplant and winter squash along for a few more weeks or months. It’s always hard to believe it when the end of the csa season arrives. it’s definitely time, our harvests are rapidly decreasing and we’ve worked through most of our storage crops. Hello csa members! here is what we *hope* to bring you for week 18 of our csa: regular share beets radish choice (possibly watermelon radish or daikon radish) sweet pepper choice (possibly carmen peppers or bell peppers) garlic spicy pepper choice (possibly roasted chiles or spicy pepper mix) spaghetti squash large share additions carrots two…. The main news from the farm the past few weeks has been the complete lack of rain. the entire month of september brought only a half inch of rain (including yesterday’s rain).
